This Unit Standard is aimed at people who operate as community development workers or are involved in community development initiatives, including government, non-government, and the private sector. The Unit Standard will enable learners to understand, explain and discuss the stages of human development and how these impact on the needs of the community.

The learner who achieves this Unit Standard will be capable of:
Understanding the stages of human development in terms of the changes individuals, groups and communities go through or undergo.
Explaining and discussing the needs of each development stage and group.
Discussing the impact of these stages of human development on community needs.
