The person credited with this unit standard is able to utilise her/his knowledge of the legislation, policies and procedures which underpin community development in order to promote participation and empowerment in community projects and initiatives. The awareness of any legal prescripts within a specific community context will support the role of the community development worker.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
Describing the key legislation that impacts on the community development worker in the South Africa context.
Identifying and describing key policies that underpin the legislation within a community development context.
Analyse and interpret legislation and policies to determine how it relates and impacts on community development.
